Labels
When I was younger, my friend had this label maker and it was the coolest thing. I got one and labeled everything. (Yes, super cool.)
The concept of labeling transferred into my personality. I was a firm believer in labels. They had the power to define, clarify, empower - a concept that goes both for the things I owned and how I perceived myself.
The habit of labeling led me to this habit of idolizing the labels people placed on me, molding myself into who I thought people expected me to be. But God impressed in my heart a very question - what does it matter what they think of you if I know ?
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?
Matthew 16:26
In a world that tries to label you as a hundred different things, remember that the only one that matters is what God puts on you.
You are His child.
You are His love.
You are meant for a purpose
You are fearfully and wonderfully made
Cling to these truths and cover yourselves in the beautiful words that he prays over you in His Word. Know that these labels have the power to define, clarify, and empower who you truly are.
Today, take a moment to write down all the labels you’ve placed on yourself - good or bad. Take a look at this list and cross out the ones that aren’t aligned with God’s word and replace it with who He says you are.

Jo
