On the Faithfulness of God

One of the most intense parts of any show/movie has to be the fight scene and the main character seems to have no hope, then all of a sudden, help emerges as if out of thin air and you know it’s game over for the bad guy.

(Please refer to Crash Landing On You, Episode 13 for an example)

There’s just something so beautiful about it, to be caught in a hopeless situation -you can’t think, say, or do anything to change your situation, there it is, behold, your savior.

And in life, that’s God. Over and over again.

“But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.”

II Thessalonians 3:3

As we enter a little over a year mark of being in a pandemic, God’s unveiled a lot of things to us, but one recurring characteristic He shows me is His faithfulness.

Looking back to last year, the world pretty much flipped upside-down, left and right and got shaken. It felt as though anything we once thought we could depend on was now proven futile. Anything we thought we could cling onto to be our constant was now forever changed. Everything except God.

In the most tumultuous of times, what some might say is the fight scene and I’m the character who has no hope - it wasn’t that He emerged out of nowhere, He was fighting for me, guarding me, protecting me.

Perhaps for you, life has come to a place where even the very thought of what your day to day entails feels suffocating. Even trying to process what you’re really feeling may be the most difficult of tasks. Perhaps you feel like you’re at your end, to the point of breaking. Maybe you feel already broken.

But, dear one, cling onto God. Cling onto Him, turn to Him. Cry out to Him, rest easy in His presence. This feeling of brokenness and heaviness is a valid feeling, but feelings are always changing. Cling to the One who is staying constant, who is faithful. When it’s hard, cling to Him even more because He will take you through.

As you go through this season, whether it be heavy or light, it is my prayer that you intimately understand how God is faithful to work in your life. He is guarding you against anything that can harm you, so draw near to Him and see just how beautifully He moves.

xx,

Jo
