The 1 End-of-Year Practice Every Person Should Do
Hey, BAE!
Happy (almost) New Year!
It’s one week before the end of 2021 and I honestly have no idea how that happened. I literally BLINKED and here we are welcoming in another year.
Since it’s the end of the year, I wanted to share with you my favorite end of year traditions: a journaling moment where we can reflect and set intentions.
Step 1: Get your stuff ready
I’m super into “setting the mood”. So get a few of your favorite things to make this moment with god special! Drop some essential oils in your diffuser, light a candle, put on some good music and get your pens/bible/journal ready :)
Step 2: Reflect on the year
Looking back at the past year and see how it started, who you were, where you and God were, and all the things you two have accomplished together. This is the perfect time to reflect on God’s goodness and faithfulness over your life and those around you.
A few tips and prompts:
How would I describe who God was in my life this year in one word? What event/challenge/accomplishment showed me that?
What did I learn about my identity this year?
Who did God bring into my life this year? Remove? Which relationships changed?
Step 3: Create your intention for 2022
Setting some go-getter goals for the year is great, but just as important would be the intention behind it. I’ve seen that having an intention to carry throughout the year makes you more mindful of how you go about doing your goals and it’s a lot easier to remember.
Ask God to align your intention with His.
When Yahweh delights in how you live your life, he establishes your every step. If they stumble badly, they will still survive, for the Lord lifts them up with his hands. Psalms 37:23 - 24 (TPT)
Inviting God into this process is such an exciting thing to do. He is more than willing to meet you where you are and work with a heart that is willing.
Write it down
This doesn’t have to be physically written, but it could be jotted down in your notes, turned into a nice little wallpaper for you to remember the intention you and God have established for the year.
I hope this tradition you enjoy and will carry with you to take a moment of gratitude for the year that happened, whether the best, worst, or even “just another”, God was very much moving through you and with you through it all.
I also hope that it makes you excited for the year to come as we’re all super excited to see our BAE’s grow in their relationships with God, their identities, and calling.
We love you and happy almost new year!
Xx,
Jo
