The Unglamorous Process of Pursuit
Think about a moment you found yourself truly amazed.
Perhaps the first time seeing the Grand Canyon. Or witnessing an athlete win first place on the Olympic stage. Or even experiencing an incredible performance done by BTS on Jimmy Fallon.
But when was the last time we were amazed at the process it took to get there?
Behind the grandeur of the Grand Canyon was a million years’ work of the Colorado River’s running through it.
Behind the Olympic medal was countless of training hours done by the athlete.
Behind BTS’ performance was loads of rehearsals done by the team.
And so is the reality for each of us as we pursue our God goals and passions. The goal is a beautiful thing to accomplish, and it is a moment to mark as the faithfulness of God over our lives, but what we need to see is that the process of it is where God’s faithfulness has been, and as a result we too should be. Because as much as we say “to God be the glory” when we get there, we should praise Him ever so in the process.
Be faithful in the little
“His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much.”
Matthew 25:21 (ESV)
Think about the faithfulness of an athlete to working out. It isn’t the one workout that brings them from a standard of good to great, but rather their daily commitment to showing up and working towards the vision set before them.
Faithful is consistently working towards the goal. And though constant may not look glamorous, it is the result of the faithfulness to God and the calling that pushes the vision to even greater heights.
Be thankful in the little
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you”
Isaiah 43:2 (ESV)
The truth is that 99% of going for your goals is spent in the process. The little things, the things that contribute to what it is that you are meant to do. So fall in love with it because God is there!
God is with you in the falls, in the rises, in the process and in the achievement. So take joy in the partnership with Him, coming to him with praises and a grateful heart for what He wants to do with you today.
Be excellent in the little
“For God so loved the world, that He gave HIs only begotten Son”
John 3:16
Our God is the God who has given us so much more than we ever deserve, and that is the very reason we act to a standard of excellence. God didn’t send down second best or almost perfect when He was preparing our Savior. He gave His very best, 100% perfect, unblemished Son.
In the same way, we respond with excellence, for everything that we do doesn’t stem for the glory of man BUT for the glory of our excellent God.
It’s always our prayer at BAE that you take these lessons and apply it to your own life. As always, we are praying with you, here for you, and loving you always.
xx,
Jo
