BAEsics: Worship Beyond Sunday

BAE Collective challenges women to worship BEYOND Sundays. That means, AFTER your church band plays, AFTER your Pastor has preached, and AFTER you wake up Monday morning.

I am going to answer two questions you may be having:

  1. First of all, what is worship?

  2. Okay...then how do I do it AFTER Sunday?

Sis, I got you.

What is Worship?

LITERAL MEANING: a feeling or expression in reverence or adoration.

Thank you Google.

My mom’s definition: “Worship is an unedited expression of your love and reverence.”

But according to all preachings I’ve watched about worship, worship is:

“ Love expressed to God as a response.” (paraphrased)

Expression. Love.

Let’s break it down, shall we?

Worship is LOVE expressed to God...

Love is God (1 John 4:8), therefore we cannot worship God without Him in our life. We cannot worship God from our hearts if we have not yet experienced the love that He is.

Worship is love EXPRESSED to God…

My question to you is, how do you express your love? For my friends: I express my love through spending time with them, sharing my heart, and also allowing them to share theirs. For my family: I show up and serve. I do my part as the daughter of my parents by listening to them, honoring them. I do my part as an older sister by supporting my sibling. For my favorite bands/celebrities: I pay for merch, I watch their shows, I have their songs on repeat.

The moment you’ve been waiting for: YES, worship is more than just singing.

If you express love through lifting of hands, shouting, jumping up and down, writing, cooking, and any other possible way, it is worship. Anything that requires you to do something out of love to glorify, is worship.

Worship is... a RESPONSE.

1 John 4:19 “We love because He first loved us.” He loved us FIRST. So anything we do now is a response to His love for us.

How Do I Worship?

Simple question: What is it that you do?

I love singing and making music.

Malia makes videos, Danielle makes graphics, Mikaila records podcasts, Dina admins, Jonah writes, Angeli does makeup. We all do this to express our love to The One who loved us first.

Study from your heart, work from your heart, cook from your heart, workout from your heart, draw from your heart, eat from your heart, and breathe in and out from your heart.

Whatever it is that you do, do it in expression of love to glorify The One who loved you first.

“ Whether you eat or drink, live your life in a way that glorifies and honors God.”

1 Corinthians 10:31 (TPT)
