3 Ways to Stay Steady In Your Faith
Steady in Faith
Have you ever tried to walk on a super slippery surface to get to where you wanted to go? It’s a completely awkward moment, full of slow, calculated steps forward. But there’s direction in those steps. Each one has its purpose to take you just a little closer to the place you’re trying to go.
These moments are the ones which remind us how we are to live this life and serve God. I personally get caught up thinking God is asking us to make huge strides of faith, but perhaps we should live life steadily. This doesn’t mean we are to live a mediocre life, but one which constantly seeks to go one step to draw closer to God.
What does “steady” look like?
According to the dictionary that comes up when you google a word, “steady” means regular, even, and continuous in development, frequency, or intensity.
When we are trying to achieve a steady faith in God, this is the vision we should have for our our lives. We aren’t trying to waver, but rather be rooted in the Word, in the testimony, in who God timelessly proves Himself to be.
We aren’t to be dictated by the current circumstance, but rather regularly developing our hope in Jesus.
How do I stay steady in my faith?
Your God is so much greater
I am the Lord, and there is no other, besides me there is no God; I equip you, though you do not know me, that people may know, from the rising of the sun and from the west, that there is none besides me; I am the Lord, and there is no other. I form light and create darkness; I make well-being and create calamity; I am the Lord, who does all these things.
Isaiah 45: 5-7
The enemy will try to magnify things to be bigger than they seem - almost as if they are bigger than your God can handle. But take heart, BAE - the God you serve is so much bigger than whatever “it” may be. Seek Him over your circumstance. Focused, eyes set on Him.
There’s a bigger picture
“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
Matthew 25:21
Life can pull you in manyyyyyy directions. And we constantly ask ourselves - is this what I want to do? But really the question is - is this what God wants for me to do?
Because there will come a point where we no longer exist on this earth and we will face Jesus. We will be there to recount what we did with everything He’s given us here on Earth.
There are many things that we could let dictate our decisions/feelings/emotions. But it is our job to take the steps that are taking you closer to answer “is this what God wants for me to do?”You aren’t here forever
Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom
Psalms 90:12
Our time here is finite. And when we’re in our prime, living and thriving, the last thing we are really thinking about is that we will one day not be here on Earth.
But it is my hope and prayer you understand your days are numbered. As we see in this verse, it steady’s you to gain wisdom. It teaches us to focus on the step we are taking and the step we are taking to know that it is intentional and matters.
