5 Books that Transformed My Walk With God
The best thing to spice up quiet time is a good book! Here are 5 books that transformed my personal walk with God.
One Month To Live
Just as the title sounds, the premise of this book is geared towards your life if you had one month to live. How do we become more intentional about our relationships around us? How can we live a purposeful life?
Each day you’re faced with probing, vulnerable questions ending with an actionable focus on how to achieve a life that can confidently say if I had one month to live, I would have no regrets because who you are, what you’ve done has truly reflected the heart of God.
Biggest Takeaway: Live intentionally each day. We often fill our days with fruitless activities, set on this mentality that it is “just another day”. But each day is full of opportunity to live better, love fuller.
Without Rival
This book is for my fellow BAEs who struggle with competition and comparison. My girl Lisa Bevere speaks nothing but TRUTH in this book, shifting the focus from that around you we wish we had and bringing it to discover what God has prepared for you.
Biggest Takeaway: What God has for you is for you.
Purpose Driven Life
Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren is aimed towards an audience that is a little older, but all the more applicable for us. Over the course of 40 days, Rick Warren discusses a practical way to live a life driven by purpose.
Biggest takeaway: Write a mission statement (a practice also found in 7 Habits of Highly Effective People). This practice helped serve as my litmus test of what I should and shouldn’t be pursuing in this life
Visioneering
For those of you who have a dream, vision, goal that seems larger than you, THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU.
Andy Stanley follows the story of Nehemiah, challenging the narrative that large visions require large steps. He notes how God worked in the seemingly small beginnings, rooting and strengthening the character, vision, and relationship within Him before bringing to life the vision He instilled in him for months.
Biggest Takeaway: Success isn’t achieving the vision, but about being aligned with God’s purpose for you in each season
Jesus Is ____.
For my new BAE sisters in Christ, wanting to know a little more of who Jesus is in your life, Pastor Judah Smith writes this book. Jesus Is ____ is a lighthearted and impactful insight on the multifaceted-ness, unchanging nature of Jesus.
Biggest Takeaway: How you fill in the blank of who Jesus is will change from season to season, but He never will.
