God’s Plan
I think most of you all can relate when I say that there are moments when things are not going the way we want and it’s easy to question if God really intended for it to happen this way.
...But why do we do this? We’re still human at the end of the day and fleshly desires get in the way.
Do you even know what God’s plan for you is?
With full transparency and honesty, I have no clue what exactly God’s plan is for my life. What I know for sure is that it’s better than anything I can imagine. It’ll be for the good of His people and according to His purpose for me. This year alone He has taught me so much and my world seems to have flipped upside down, in the best way possible.
I started this year in a relationship where I intended to settle. My 5-year plan was to get my master’s degree, get married, and spend the rest of my life with this person. When the relationship ended, despite all the emotions I felt, I always knew that the most constant presence in my life is the Lord’s. Never has He let me down or placed me in a position I couldn’t get out of.
My 5-year plan now is completely different from what I imagined. The thought of settling down at such a young age doesn’t appeal to me anymore. Though I do want to get my master’s degree eventually, I don’t feel the need for it just yet. There is a whole world God has created for me to explore, and I intend to do so with Him guiding me through it. This season of my life has been truly rewarding and I’m filled with contentment and joy.
“Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.”
Philippians 4:11 (ESV)
Contentment vs. Settling
There is a BIG difference between being in a state of contentment versus settling for/with your circumstances.
For me, contentment involves accepting your current circumstances knowing that there is more to come, whereas settling for something is choosing to stay in a situation you may or may not be okay with despite knowing that there is more room for growth.
When setting new goals, remember that at one point you prayed for the job you currently have, the car you drive, and even the food on your table. Again, it’s human to want more and we can often feel trapped in an endless cycle of dissatisfaction. BUT, how are you going to respond to the longing you have?
Big or small, your goals and passions are significant. Keeping the Lord at the center of these plans allows Him to work through and for you as you continue you walk.
I’m rooting for you all!!
Praying for and loving you always,
