Better Together: Letting God in On Your New Year’s Resolutions

Happy two-ish weeks into 2021, BAE’s! How are your New Year’s Resolutions going?

If you’re anything like me, we’re probably over the initial enthusiasm of creating these resolutions and rationalizing the fact no one will truly care (nor die) if we don’t maintain these resolutions mindset. AKA, struggling to keep going with it.

But in the dying flames of motivation and inspiration, here are two reminders to keep going strong:

  1. Understand the greater importance of what you are pursuing

Oftentimes, we think really tiny. We think we don’t have an impact on this world or believe our significance in the grand scheme of God isn’t really worth doing all out. But know you are significant and you are a vital part in God’s plan. Yes, He could do what He needs to do without you, but He specifically chose you in this time, in this generation to play a greater part than you and I could ever imagine.

  2. Do it with God

“And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing over them. Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. And they all ate and were satisfied.”

    Luke 9: 16 - 17a (ESV)

It is a game changer when you let God in the mix. For a long time I believed when God gave me a task, it was similar to the spy movies where I would get my orders for what task is to be done, do it perfectly, and then come back and report my mission, accomplished.

However, the more I grow in my walk, the more I realize God is just as much my partner in crime as He is my commander. He wants to be the one who goes out and does the mission with me, letting me know He’s got my back and I can trust He and I are going to do everything we can to get this done.

So today, let God in on your resolutions. Don’t think He just wants to tell you what to do and leave you to it. Allow Him to walk with you and even take the lead, because reaching new depths with Him will bring you to even greater heights.

These resolutions may be just a customary thing you do at the beginning of the year, but allow God to shape your heart to see the greatness of what faithfulness and obedience to Him can do for your life.

Happy New Year, BAE’s!

Love,

Jo
