What box do you put God in?
This question may seem daunting or that I’m insinuating that everybody does this, but honestly, are you putting God in a box?
It’s human nature to want some control in our lives. We think that there are just certain things we can do without God. Wrong.
When Jesus Calmed the Storm
In the Gospel, there’s a story of when Jesus and His disciples were caught in a storm. I think that most of us would honestly be terrified, just like the disciples. When they came to Jesus, who was sleeping, they believed they were going to drown. Jesus rebuked the waves and wind, and they were in utter shock of what He was capable of.
This story is a perfect example of how we tend to put the Lord in a box. The disciples had been with Jesus for a while, seeing Him raise people from the dead, provide an abundance of food for a nation, etc., yet they thought they were doomed in the middle of a storm.
Even though we’re fully aware of what He’s done and what He’s capable of, we forget that what He can do is unfathomable.
Pray Outside the Box
I encourage you to reflect on the limitations you set on what God is capable of doing in your life. Praying courageously is scary because it involves putting all your trust in the Lord, letting go of control.
We’ve all heard it because it’s true, but you need to “let go and let God.” Let Him work in your life without limitations.
Pray for things you think may be crazy ideas, ask Him for guidance and the courage to pursue the calling He has for you!
