Sustaining Your God Goals
Dreaming with God has easily been the most exciting and nerve-wracking cycle I have been in.
As someone who inherently likes to-do lists, being able to check off tasks brings me the utmost joy and satisfaction. But when dreaming with God, the checklist becomes more daunting, beyond my capacity, and it seems like I’ll never get to check off that thing God put in my heart.
The BAE Collective is a firm believer of “God Goals” - the things God places in our heart that require Him to be completed. And these are 3 practices I constantly integrate to keep going after the dreams God has placed in my own heart:
Break it down
Looking too far into the future and the “ultimate goal” can seem so far away. Take the time to look at the progress that has been made. Recount God’s hand over those moments, what is it that you learned about who God is in your life? What is it that you know to be true about God in these moments? Etched in this practice is your testimony, and that is something that no one can take away from you (Revelation 12:11).
“And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.”
Revelation 12:11 NLT
Trust God’s timing
God isn’t as consumed as we are with our timeline. “In 1 year, I want to accomplish this” In 5, this is the goal. The 10-year plan is this. But the Lord doesn’t succumb to our timelines because He has something He knows is better (Ephesians 3:20). It is in His timing His protection, divine purpose, and the moments in which he molds our character to trust Him deeper.
“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”
Ephesians 3:20 NLT
Root yourself in His word
It’s tempting to look at present circumstance, past shortcomings and an uncertain future and feel… stuck. These are the moments that we fix our eyes on what is unseen (2 Corinthians 4:18). We are investing in an eternal calling, one far beyond what is here on Earth.
Knowing this, we need to take up our spiritual armor and have ammo for when the enemy tempts us to doubt God and His promises. God will complete His work in you (1 Thessalonians 5:24). He is faithful to you. His goodness and mercy follow you all the days of your life.
“So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”
2 Corinthians 4:18 NLT
“God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful.”
1 Thessalonians 5:24 NLT
These truths go beyond a feeling, a circumstance, and they are unchanging.
It is my prayer and hope that in a time that you feel discouraged and questioning if the Lord is for you or if this dream is for you, this post be an encouragement to you and be some guidance to draw you closer to God!
