3 Ways to Cultivate Joy Daily

Hey, BAE’s!

My intention this year was set as “fruitfulness”. Each month,  I’ve been taking a piece of the fruit to focus on and see how God moves. It’s been exciting to see how God has taken familiar concepts and planted new seeds and bore new pieces of that fruit in my heart.

This past month, I focused on joy. And I thought I had joy, but really I was banking on happiness. Here are three things that broke my perception of joy and how God taught me to cultivate it more in my daily life!

3 Ways to Cultivate Joy Daily

  1. Know the Source

“Then I will go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight.”

    Psalms 43:4

God is the source of your joy! We can oftentimes think that there is a different answer to who, what, how joy will come. But take heart in this simple truth – seek God and you will find joy.

When we are looking for the source of a sound, we know that when we seek and follow it, we find our answer. When we look for the source of our joy, seeking and following God, His ways and His will, will give us our answer to discovering joy.

Seek Him in all things – relationships, situations, and discover how He is moving.

  2. Understand it

“I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances”

    Philippians 4:11

Joy is a choice, not a feeling. This means you are in full control to decide if you will find joy in this life, and not allow this life to decide that for you.

Joy is something that the Lord has meant for you. He desires to be the source of your joy. This is not to say that you’ll never experience trials or hardships, but it is to say that you will find joy even when facing those seasons.

  3. Protect It

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. John 10:10

Because joy is a choice, you must protect it at all costs. The enemy will work endlessly to trick you into thinking you were not created for joy.

Take time to understand things that can rob your joy, as well as the things that bring you joy.

I personally love making lists and have spent time in a day to see what it is that can trigger a disruption in my joy. Being aware of the things that cultivate joy can help you take a step back and reassess what does not and how you can overcome them!

Cultivating joy is a process. And when it seems like you’re not “that” person, it can be a daunting undertaking. But I hope you are encouraged because you have Jesus in your heart, you are meant for joy!

It is our prayer at BAE that you unlock this for your life. As always, please feel free to connect with us on Instagram @baecollective.sd!
