Rest
Are you called to rest this season? That’s right...called. Sometimes we are called to go, sometimes we are called to wait, and sometimes we are called to rest.
“He makes me lie down in green pastures.” (ESV)
Psalms 23:2
In this verse, it states that the Lord makes me lie down. It is His doing. It is intentional rest that the Lord “makes” or “lets” me do (in other translations).
Life gets really busy because we have families, school, work, ministry, AND a social life; but God gets it. He created heaven and earth--light, land, water, animals, and humans too. Yet, He still rested on the seventh day.
A verse I hope you keep close to your heart during your season of rest is:
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG)
When in resting:
Answer the call (or the Lord will make you lay--by His grace lol)
Go to Him and get away--from the world (work, friends, sometimes ministry)
Watch and learn--He’ll show you how to rest
Live freely and lightly
I am preaching to the choir because the Lord really made me lay down and rest. As I am typing this, my left arm is in a sling due to a biking accident. This month, and even this whole quarter has been hectic for me but because of this accident, I have been resting. I am in a season of transition but the Lord has called me to rest for now.
So answer the call. Resting feels good. So, rest with me <3 (and the Lord)
