God is good. All the Time: 3 Times We Experience God’s Goodness

When I say “God is good,”

You say “All the time.”

Because all the time, God is good.

Some of us who have grown up in church know this phrase very well. It’s when the preacher gets up there to rally and hype up the crowd, and we duly respond.

But the power of truth can get lost in repetition and be deemed a “cliché”. Today, we’re taking it back to its roots and looking at three times when God is good. (spoiler: all the time).

  1. Places we are entering

“The Lord your God who goes before you will himself fight for you.”

    Deuteronomy 1:30

The future is full of unknowns, and it can create such anxiety if we try to control everything. Take rest in the fact that after doing our due diligence and obediently following what God has required, he too is working. He has gone before you to prepare a path, to forage and fight a good fight to fully enter what is next.

  2. Where we are right now

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.”

    Isaiah 43:2

Life in the present isn’t always good food and good vibes. Some days may feel like we’re getting beat left and right and drop-kicked in the face.

But dear BAE, this is the beauty of having God. Knowing that EVEN THEN, God is good. God is there. And he is with you. And he is working it all out.

It is in those pressing moments we are to press harder into God.

  3. Times that could’ve harmed us, but didn’t

“And I will be to her a wall of fire all around, declares the Lord, and I will be the glory in her midst”

    Zechariah 2:5

There are countless times the Lord has protected us from things we didn’t even know were out there to harm us. Think about babies who are about to fall off of a ledge, and a parent swoops in the moment they crawl too far – that is the Lord working on our behalf.

There are things that the enemy has set in our way to make us fall. Thus, us surviving this far is testament to the Lord’s goodness and faithfulness over our lives and how he has surrounded us with His protection each and every day.
