The One Reason the Cross Was Necessary
Hey, BAE’s! Happy Easter week!
There’s a lot of things that come with the celebration of Easter - eggs, bunnies, all the pretty spring pastel colors - but the most important thing to bring to the forefront of celebration is the reason of Easter! Jesus is risen!!
Perhaps you may be like me, raised a church gal since the beginning of time, and it can be a truth that we take for granted. But I want us to take yet another look at the cross and understand the one reason the cross was necessary.
The Cross is the ultimate love story
When humankind was originally created, it wasn’t to work. It wasn’t to go to school. It was so that you and I could be with Him. We were created to behold his image. To take authority over all living creatures. Ultimately, to worship Him.
We know that the sin of man came when they disobeyed and Adam and Eve ate the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
This created a separation from God and man.
Enter: Jesus.
God couldn’t last another day away from you. He loved you so deeply, so widely that the only way back to you was the ultimate sacrifice was His son and He withheld nothing.
So we see in the new testament the reconciliation of man. The climax of this love story perfectly depicted in the iconic verse John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only son. That whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.
This right here is the one reason defeating the cross was necessary. For you. For His love for you.
I hope today we take an extra long second to acknowledge just how powerful Jesus raising from the cross is. It was the greatest sacrifice met by the greatest triumph. The suffering of Jesus was made worth it because He got to be with us again.
Happy Easter, BAE’s!
We love you dearly.
Xx,
Jo
